Its not a Lycoming SB but the theory works well on any engine. The helixing actually makes a pump the moves the oil away from the seal lip.

Sep 22, 2013· That doesn't look like much of a leak to me and there's no evidence it is the crankshaft seal. If there is oil on the inside of the flywheel then it is leaking otherwise it could be leaking at the case halves there which there's nothing you can really do about in the practical sense. I would leave it alone.
